Board of Health approves tobacco fine and suspension for D&H Variety.

BLACKSTONE — Board of Health unanimously enforces tobacco compliance at D&H Variety. Director of the Boards of Health Tobacco Control Alliance Joan E. Hamlett reported that tobacco agent Mary Joann Brighenti found an unopened tobacco product in self-service at the establishment on March 5, triggering a mandatory $5,000 fine and 21-day permit suspension, the third violation in 36 months.

Chairman Joshua J. Ryan and Vice Chairman Kevin J. Ryan led the Board's unanimous approval of the enforcement notification.

The Board also unanimously approved Health Agent Colleen M. Strapponi's payroll and a Republic Services invoice of $57,966.82 for February 2026.
