Board of Selectmen extends DDM Cannabis opening hours to 7 a.m.

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of February 24, 2026

Blackstone Selectmen voted 3 to 1 to allow DDM Cannabis to open at 7 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. Chairman Daniel Keefe recused himself from the vote; Selectman Gino Olaes opposed the measure, citing concerns about proximity to school routes. Police Chief Gregory Gilmore reported minimal issues with the establishment and no public safety concerns with the earlier opening.

The Board also unanimously adopted the Fire Department's updated Hazard Mitigation Plan, required for FEMA and MEMA grant eligibility, and appointed five members to various committees, including Cristina Coulter to the Economic Development Committee and Peter Blais, Sr., to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Town Accountant Lauren Taylor reported the FY25 audit draft is expected within two weeks and proposed returning to bi-weekly warrants after the switch to weekly warrants increased workload significantly.
