BLACKSTONE — Parks and Recreation Commission reorganizes with new leadership. Celeste Langlois was unanimously elected chairperson, Bob Gilbert vice-chairperson, and Don Cox treasurer. The commission approved field requests from four recreational organizations, including the Blue Birds for Saturday and Tuesday-Wednesday use, the Blackstone Valley Adult Recreational League for Monday evening and Sunday basketball, and North Smithfield Little League for Thursday and weekend slots at $30 per week for nine weeks.
The commission allocated up to $1,000 for supplies for the Blackstone Derby Days event on May 1 and learned of a $500 reduction in next year's budget.
