Selectmen advance planning for Semi-Quincentennial carnival in workshop

Blackstone Board of Selectmen coordinates extensive safety and logistics planning for June Semi-Quincentennial celebration carnival. Vice Chairman Mike Sweeney presided over a workshop attended by Fire Chief Kevin Roy, Police Chief Greg Gilmore, and Health Agent Colleen Strapponi. The carnival will operate as an open-access event with no admission fee, no overnight staff onsite, and ride access through wristbands and height-based eligibility.
Police will conduct continuous patrols and monitor the site via cameras and additional State Police equipment, while recruiting parking-attendant volunteers to manage entry and vendor arrivals. Fire Department and Board of Health will inspect all food trucks and vendors for safety compliance.
