Blackstone selectmen call May 26 town meeting and eye $61.7 million municipal facilities overhaul. The Board voted unanimously to schedule both meetings, with the Special Town Meeting at 7:00 PM and Annual Town Meeting at 7:30 PM on May 26, 2026. Architects from Kaestle Boos Associates presented a feasibility study proposing a new 32,750-square-foot public safety facility at a total project cost of $38.2 million and renovation of the existing building to house town hall and the Council on Aging at $23.5 million.
The town faces code deficiencies in its current structure and lack of adequate space; the study identified the Kennedy-Maloney School complex as a potential alternative site. Town Administrator Chad Lovett reported three water main breaks on Lakeview Street over three days, with emergency repairs by outside contractors, and the Board unanimously approved $126,500 in professional engineering services for Federal Street sidewalk improvements.
